Alia Bhatt's Makeup in Student of the Year

In the interval of SOTY, a Maybelline ad flashes across the screen, trying to convince all the 16 year old girls in the audience that they too can get Alia Bhatt's makeup look in the movie by using Maybelline products.

Can they?

Probably Yes.

But I have my reservations for two reasons:

1. I have a hunch that a lot of products I saw in the movie were actually MAC.

2. I'm not sure 16 year old girls want to wear makeup like Alia Bhatt does in the movie.

And here's why.

Ben Nye Cream Rouge in Sandy Rose - Review

It claims: Nothing. This ain't one of your wordsmith blushes that promise to help you travel to the moon & back, but won't even last 3 hours in Mumbai heat.

Ingredients: see Image below

Price: Rs. 300/- for 7 gms of blush

Shade reviewed: CR - 3 Sandy Rose

Available: at New Beauty Centre, Khar

What I liked:

1. Really pigmented - a small swipe will get your cheeks all rosy, plus the texture is really soft & it blends very, very easily. It sets to a very natural finish.

Sridevi's Look in English Vinglish

First of all, this is an awesome movie. If you have the time please do watch it.

Sridevi just knocks it outta the stadium with her acting. In fact she is far superior to all the actresses reigning supreme right now (other than maybe Vidya Balan or Rani Mukherjee) and makes a very good case for why Bollywood should look at giving good actresses, good roles irrespective of their age.

I was initially unsure whether to write this post. Sridevi's look in the movie is a very understated look that has been designed for her character of an housewife in her late 30's or early 40's who is low on self-confidence and doesn't consider herself a priority.

I'm not sure how many of my readers fall into that demographic. But then, I couldn't help but notice her makeup while watching the movie & making mental notes.

So here goes. In the movie, Sridevi has

Kareena Kapoor's Hair & Makeup in Heroine

So I finally saw the movie last week. I went with complete & full knowledge that it isn't, ummm, a very nice movie. But I was just curious to see Kareena.

The movie is as bad as you have heard. It portrays the life of a heroine as one full of misery. I was like Hello! What about the fancy foreign trips, loads of fans, free makeup & clothing (I know they get free makeup for like just nothing. Shilpa Shetty who once visited New Beauty Centre was gifted 3 bags full of makeup by the owner in front of me & she hadn't bought a thing!!)

Madhur is certainly running out of storylines & subjects. I'm worried his next movie may be called "Blog" and it could be about the big, bad, manipulative world of bloggers.

Head & Shoulders had a tie-up with the movie and had invited me to a screening (to which I couldn't make it because of work). But they were kind enough still to share a hair style breakdown of the looks she sports in the movie. So I&#…

Rimmel London.. Now in Mumbai

Some of you must have heard of Rimmel London right?

Yup, the one with a lot of different mascaras & nail paints & eyebrow pencil kits, yeah?

They are here in Mumbai!

Infinity - II at Malad has a store called Parsus Parcos (thanks Parul!) on the ground floor. I guess it is new, coz I've never seen it before. From outside it I could see that it was a posh version of Beauty Centre with Shiesho, Liz Arden & the works. Curosity got the better of me and I went in the store.

They had some "budget" brands too like Maxfactor &  Bourjois, Sally Hansen et al. But then I saw it.
